In Cross Country you can run, improve, feel good about yourself, make new friends, and learn to compete. This is a sport for everyone. No matter what your physical abilities, you can get in shape, and be a valuable member of our team
The Oak Grove Cross Country team prides itself of being a group of hard-working, polite, intelligent, caring and competitive athletes. The parents, coaches, and community expect the best behavior from team members during meets and practices. Coaches and teammates are expected to be encouraging and positive to one another. The coaches want to develop life-long runners, promote a healthy lifestyle, develop individuals with good character, make running enjoyable, and have individual and team success. The coaches value the first runner to cross the line and the last runner to cross the line equally. ,
The properly trained cross country runner or endurance athlete needs to develop all areas of their body in order to become the best possible athlete they can. To develop a high standard of fitness, we will be training using a mixture of:
Steady long distance running to develop both cardiovascular and muscle endurance.
Interval training to develop speed, endurance & lactic acid tolerance.
Strength training and plyometrics
Oak Grove Cross Country athletes have a reputation of being a team that cares about one another. Do your best to uphold these values and follow in the footsteps of those who came before you.
